Citypress is a leading PR and communications agency based in Manchester. Hired to provide some extra copywriting support, their brief was to write a 2000-word article on behalf of their client, Crown Paints, as part of Crown's Colour Insights 2025/2026 project.
Aimed at architects, interior designers, and other built environment professionals, the article explores the myriad of trends that are helping shape the global landscape. And, in particular, the influences they're having on the world of design.
Tyler Mandic are an architectural design and renovation company specialsing in high-end design and restoration projects mainly within the central London areas of Kensington, Chelsea, Westminster, and Mayfair.
The projects I've worked with them on, include...
♦ Writing brochure copy and proposal documents aimed at differing stakeholders in support of a multi-million-pound redevelopment in south-east London. This included the complete renovation of an existing apartment block and increasing the overall building height with the addition of six new apartments and four penthouses with roof gardens.
♦ Writing advertorial copy for inclusion in an upmarket magazine featuring a case study to highlight the benefits of listed property investment and renovation in central London.
There were two parts to their brief.
For the fist part, I was to write a series of short, evocative, sentences with a distinctive style and structure - with a maximum of 4 paragraphs and 200 words (see left).
The focus was to be on experiences in the great outdoors, not products.
Written as part of an awareness campaign for their Epicentre retail brand, the copy was written so they were able to pull out and adapt sentences for use in print and digital media. Intended uses include advertising, web banners, social media etc.
The second part of the brief was to write a series of taglines to accompany a video forming part of the same awareness campaign.
"Thank you so much, Andrew - this is great! You've really nailed the evocative copy we're after. And with so many options for taglines, we definitely have that part covered too."

Sarah Raven are a high-end garden retail brand. They primarily operate online but also sell Sarah Raven products with other retailers.
I've worked on several copy-editing projects for them. These include...
♦ Editing their website banners and website pop-up pages, and
♦ Editing marketing emails - main and sub-headings plus, main-body text - aimed at prospective, existing, and lapsed customers.
Both eBooks centred around gaining planning permission for tall buildings in the Irish Republic capital, Dublin.
♦ How to strengthen your planning applications for tall buildings in Dublin was the first eBook. It detailed key strategies and insider knowledge.
♦ The second eBook was titled: How using 3D digital modelling increases your chances of gaining planning permission for tall buildings in Dublin. And explored the role of 3D digital modelling in the urban planning and architecture realm, focusing on Dublin's unique challenges and opportunities.

Circesque is the latest book from award-winning Swiss/Italian photographer, Christian Tagliavini. Based in Switzerland, he is renowned for his environmental fashion portraits and has a unique artistic style that’s much sought after.
Throughout the project I worked with Studio Director, Paola Bergamaschi. She had contacted me, partly because the book was aimed at the English language market, but also because they ideally wanted a copywriter with a photography background.
The Brief: I was asked to write several sections of content from scratch plus a small amount of copy-editing of text Christian had written for his new photo art book Circesque – a celebration of the world of the Circus, its art, and performers.
The pieces I wrote from scratch involved putting into words, Christian’s thoughts and ideas about his pictures. Along with describing the finer details of styling the models and studio sets featured in the book. The added challenge came with fitting this copy within the limited space available for text within the book’s very specific overall design layout. Something, Christian didn't want changing.
In some instances, this meant I was writing so as not to exceed the maximum number of characters possible in a line of text.
"Thank you, Andrew … Your work has been invaluable to us."

Working with my client, VU.CITY, this project involved writing in-depth copy for a set of 3 blog posts and 1 eBook on the complex subject of 3D Smart City platforms used in urban design and planning.
The blog posts ran to around 1,000 words. The eBook was 1,500 words. Written specifically for architects, the articles included...
♦ Bridging the Gap: Integrating smart cities into architectural workflows.
♦ From Blueprint to Binary: Transforming architecture with Smart City technology.
♦ Collaborative Creations: Quick wins for architects using Smart City platforms.
♦ eBook - Realising ROI: The economic value of Smart City platforms for architectural projects.
Current projects involve writing blog posts and eBooks aimed at Local Authority Planning officials.
Here are the first four paragraphs for one in a series of five blog posts written for specialist content marketing agency, Lollipop, on behalf of one of their major fire sector clients.
The focus of each 1000-word article was Fire Roller Shutters. Their brief also stressed that each article had to be written in a way that didn't follow the usual 'boring' industry standard.
So, with that in mind, I opened with a dramatic account of the Great Fire of London. Something far from boring!

I've also worked with Lollipop on other projects, writing articles about various fire safety products as well as on CCTV and security systems.
"You have a wonderful natural style ... this is excellent - thank you. Just what we were hoping for!"
Jo Shaer, Founder, Lollipop, content marketing specialists for the Fire and Security sectors.
I always enjoy working with Toni-Ann Bird of Guild House Estate Agents, as every property is different and makes the copy great fun to write.
I only write brochure copy for their high-end properties, those usually selling for £1m+. For each property, the brief is always to write with a distinctive evocative/descriptive style (the kind of writing I really enjoy). That way, every brochure reads very differently from those produced by other agents. Something appreciated by both vendor and prospective buyer.
With each multi-page brochure I work on, I first make a site visit and walk through every room to get a feel for the property. And venture outside too. That way, I can pick out the details when I come to write. Chatting with the vendors also adds to the copy too.

"What can I say? Your words took me on a journey. I was fully engaged and absolutely loved the writing style."

They had already hired me to write in-depth, yet engaginly readable, copy for five blog posts on the subject of Fire Roller Shutters.
Now, they wanted me to take the same approach with articles on Fire Alarm systems. Here, are the opening paragraphs to a 1000-word article covering Fire Alarm servicing and maintenance requirements.
Trying to find an opening hook that engages the reader while being a little different from what they've come to expect is something I enjoy doing.
And when I write the copy you're after, you're not paying agency rates.
The brief for this project was to completely rewrite both the homepage and about page for John Dearden, a specialist in hand engraving of luxury watches, jewellery, and glass. I also reworked some of his website's other pages: products/services, contact, prices, and portfolio.
"When I first browsed Andrew's website, I knew he was the copywriter I needed to rewrite mine. He writes captivating copy that just works. For humans and Google!"
John Dearden, designer watch, jewellery, and glass engraver, Manchester.
