Why do I have such a mix of copywriting niches?

Well, it's not quite such a random choice as you might think it is. Instead, it's all down to photography. Before entering the wonderfully varied world of copywriting, I was a freelance commercial landscape and location photographer. Alongside this, I was also a freelance editorial writer, writing (and often illustrating) articles for a number of UK consumer and trade magazine titles.


From the very start, I specialised in photographing Britain's varied architecture, landscapes, gardens, green spaces, and heritage locations. All subjects that genuinely interested me. And still do. So, it made perfect sense to work with clients in these same fields - albeit in a new and very different way.


The focus was mainly on shooting stock for use in numerous editorial and commercial markets. But I also worked with prestigious clients like the National Trust. While I'm no longer a working photographer, many of my stock images are held with several leading picture libraries. Meaning my work continues to be licensed for editorial, commercial, and marketing purposes around the world.


I may no longer be a pro photographer, but I'm still creating pictures. Only now it's using words rather than a camera. With just the right words, I paint persuasive pictures to bring ideas, plans, designs, projects, and services to life.
